I thought it was about time for me to jump on this blog train. I have blogged in the past when I was living in Haiti, about how I was learning and growing spiritually; but blogging has changed since then. I feel called to this area of the web, a place to share my heart, design, style, and love for photography.
My days in Haiti were filled with loving on orphans, teaching in tent camps, and learning to love myself again. Now my days are filled with styling, photography, being a wife, teaching Bible studies, and learning how to be an honest and loving business owner. It’s hard to believe that 7 years ago, I was living on a mattress on the floor, two streets down from where I live now. To say my life is different now is an understatement. My past was filled with drugs, alcohol, and low self worth. It’s sometimes hard to believe that this is my life now, and that I can live in my passions and gifts. I’m excited to share more of my redemption story through this platform, and explain how I got to where I am now.
My husband and I live in an historical neighborhood in a house that dates to the early 1940’s. We are slowly renovating, and I will be sharing the progress with you on this blog! Let’s just say we are knockin’ some “ish” down! My husband and I moved from West Palm Beach, FL back to my hometown of Greenville, NC over a year and half ago, and so far, we really love it. It was really difficult to imagine living in the same town where I experienced so much heartbreak, but God calls us to be uncomfortable in life sometimes. I’m glad I didn’t let my past keep me from where I know I belong. Living here has been such a life changing experience. My career has taken on new shapes, and I’ve seen God move in my life and business tremendously. We are certain that we are right where we belong.
So here we are, living in Eastern NC, where my business has turned into something I could have never dreamt. A lot of people ask me on Instagram, “how did you start doing what you’re doing now?” And the answer is a lot of faith! I knew from a young age I was called to do something creative. I went to a fine arts school where I majored in painting and printmaking, which I feel has helped me so much in my composition with interiors and photography. My passion is to help others create magical spaces where they can find peace and rest. Not only do I get to create these spaces, but I also get to capture them with photography, which I am finding is unique to my business. I also love capturing other’s spaces they have worked so hard to curate, which you often see on my feed. I do a lot of product styling for companies, and I am now venturing into incorporating my personal style, and how it inspires my interior styling.
But the most important part of what I do, and what is at the core of my work, is the hope I want to bring to this lost world. We all have a story to tell. My story, which I hope to share more of, has made me who I am today. I was healed from my past for a purpose, and I know that is to help people see the light they so desperately long for. I was so lost 7 years ago with no hope, no home, and no worth. I stand tall today knowing who I am and what I am meant for. I know that my story, along with yours, is to be shared in order to bring hope and inspiration to those who are hurting. Trust me, I am a hot mess and have so much to work on, but I hope I can take the lessons I’m learning, not only in my business, but also in my life to help you find the light inside of you.
So cheers to a new year and new beginnings! I can’t wait to share some of my tricks, styling advise, personal style, and life lessons with you all! You all are amazing!
